Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Centre County say a Bellefonte man is behind bars after being accused of repeatedly calling 911 and harassing the dispatchers, all while claiming that the local police department was "mind-controlling" him.
According to the affidavit, police say 29-year-old James Surovec allegedly kept calling the Centre County 911 center to report "non-emergencies."
Investigators say Survoec reportedly called the center 24 times over a few-day period.
Police say during one of the calls, Surovec allegedly stated that the Bellefonte Police Department was "using a program called 'Pegasus' and using 'neuroweapons' against him."
During another call, police say Surovec alleged that the department was trying to "hack" his internet router.
Authorities say when officers responded to his home, Surovec allegedly "yelled at them" through the door.
Police say Surovec then allegedly began speaking in "third-person" and claimed to be a CIA spokesperson who was "speaking on his behalf."
Officers noted that Surovec appeared to be intoxicated.
According to online court records, Surovec faces two dozen counts of misdemeanor harassment of 911.
His bail was denied as authorities described him as being "uncooperative" and "extremely volatile."
